Café Between is a restaurant, bar, and café located within the Caption by Hyatt hotel in The Gulch neighborhood of Nashville.
I was hired to redesign four menus, breakfast, all day, dessert, and bar, while also updating and expanding the brand identity. The team wanted to update the branding so it better reflected the energy and spirit of The Gulch, creating a system that felt both modern and locally rooted. I took inspiration from the hotel’s mid-century modern interiors and paired them with subtle Southern references. A reimagined version of the bar’s tile floor became a key branding element, recolored to align with the palette and spirit of iconic Southern brands, similar to how gingham has become synonymous with the Loveless Cafe. Because Café Between is meant to be a transitional place to gather for anything from coffee to cocktails, I developed a vibrant sunrise and sunset inspired color palette that reinforces connection and movement throughout the space.
